Veteran Actor And Padma Shri Winner, Om Puri dies of heart attack at the age of 66. He was found dead in his bed around an hour ago. This bollywood hearththrob acted in both mainstream and art films in Bollywood. He also appeared in Pakistani & British films like Jewel in the Crown and City of Joy. He was awarded an honorary OBE for his contribution to the British film industry in 2004.
Indianexpress.com reported, filmmaker Ashok Pandit — a close friend of Puri — said,”Omji suffered from a massive heart attack in the morning today. We have just reached his residence.”
He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He was also an alumnus of the 1973 class of the National School of Drama where Naseeruddin Shah was a fellow student.
His popularity soared after his iconic roles in films like “Ardh Satya”, “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron” and “Paar”.
